Weekend Report

Local:
-Koinonia Christian School's production of The Secret Garden runs tonight and tomorrow at the Liberty Christian Assembly. Tix are $12 at the school or Parables Christian Bookstore in Gasoline Alley.
-Come experience "Slap Shot" on the big screen at Silver Lake Cinema in Sylvan Lake tonight at 11:00pm. Free admission and dress up as your favourite character for a chance to meet the Hanson Brothers.
-”Snow Ball” the fourth annual Swing Dance and Dinner is tonight with Big Bands from Hunting Hills, Notre Dame and Lindsay Thurber schools. The event starts with dinner at 6pm at Festival Hall. Tix are $30. 403-341-4911.
-The Town of Penhold has Women's Wellness Day tomorrow at the Memorial Hall. Tickets are $30 for a day of information, lunch, yoga, a fashion show and a “fun booty burlesque class”. Tickets at Town Hall 403-886-4567
-Nature Savvy Saturdays tomorrow at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre starting at 1pm.

Sports:
-Red Deer Rebels looking for their fourth straight win as they entertain the Calgary Hitmen tonight at the Centrium. Tomorrow the boys travel to Edmonton for a match with the Oil Kings.
-And the RDC Queens are in the playoffs against NAIT tonight. The best of five begins in Edmonton.

Film:
-Cop Out, comedy with Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan. Should be good for some laughs.
-The Crazies, which is sci-fi horror about a man made virus which causes permanent insanity. All the clips I've seen of this just has a lot of yelling.

Tonight's Lotto Max jackpot is $50Million with at least 9 Max Million draws.

Weekend Report

Local:
-Blackfalds is in the Kraft Hockeyville contest and they need your help. Bring the family today, 5:30 at the Blackfalds Multi-Plex. Bring anything that shows community spirit.
-Bull Skit comedy returns tonight and tomorrow at the Scott Block downtown. Improv, Sketch and Stand up. I'm honoured they've asked me to be a part of it.
-Handmade for Haiti arts and crafts fundraiser tomorrow at PureEarth Organics in the Cronquist Business Park. Admisson by donation, door prizes. Money goes to Canadian Red Cross.
-Green Apple Hair Shoppe “Haiti Relief Cut-A-Thon” this Sunday over in East Hill Centre. Mens cuts $20 and ladies are $30. Jordan Stryker will be on location with prizes from BIG 105

Sports:
-The Red Deer Rebels are in action tonight against Prince George. “Jersey Off Our Backs” night with money raised going to the Red Deer Ronald McDonald house.

Film:
-Shutter Island, dramatic thriller with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo.

SNL: Jennifer Lopez dominates Saturday Night Live

Weekend Report

Local
-Red Deer County Firefighters are holding a Pancake Breakfast fundraising event tomorrow morning at Fire Station 1 on the corner of 19th Street and 30th Avenue. Starts at 8:00am with funds going to Haiti.
-And The Mane Attraction Hair Studio is having Haircuts for Haiti on Sunday. Starting at 11:00am, bring the family down and make a donation. The Mane Attraction is one block south of Carnival Cinema.

Sports
-The Red Deer Rebels are in Moose Jaw taking on the Warriors tonight and in Swift Current tomorrow. The next home game is Tuesday February 9th vs. Lethbridge Hurricanes.
-The Olds Grizzlies take their game into Drayton Valley. Olds is tied for fifth. 7:30pm puck drop.
-RDC Kings and Queens basketball tomorrow against Mount Royal College. Game at 6:00pm.
-Oh, and a little thing called the Super Bowl happens Sunday. I know, I've never heard of it either.
