Weekend Report

Local:

-The Blackfalds Youth Optimist Club and the Blackfalds Octagon Club hosts their 1st Annual Fun Run and Walk tomorrow at the Blackfalds Community Hall.

--BIG 105 presents the Walk for Kids Help Phone Sunday at Heritage Ranch. We’re still looking for pledges. Details online at www.big105.fm


Sports:

-Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League’s Red Deer Rampage are in Calgary taking on the Mountaineers. It’s the opening game of the season for the Rampage.

-The girls take to the field with the Lindsay Thurber Sevens Tournament at Titans Rugby Park starting at 4:30pm.

-Tomorrow, Midget Lacrosse sees the Red Deer Chiefs girls and boys teams in action at Kin City beginning with the guys at 10am and the ladies at 1pm.


Film:

-Furry Vengeance is a family flick with Brendan Fraser.

-Gunless with the ever charming Paul Gross

-A Nightmare on Elm Street, the reboot of a classic. Not for the Under 18’s.


SNL: Zach Galifianakis with musical guest Vampire Weekend. Guess who is hosting next weekend?

Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 and Against the Wall Theatre present Bull Skit tonight and tomorrow at the Scott Block Theatre downtown. This is the season finale and all the best sketches will be shown. Tix $18.

-There is a silent auction for the children of Brad and Krista Howe tomorrow, 4:00pm at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Selkirk Boulevard. Items include autographed sports memorabilia, electronics and gift cards. Check out the Facebook page as well.

-And a fundraising event helping victims of a fire earlier this month goes tomorrow at the Blarney Stone South. The funds from this event will go to help Kevin and Estelle Anderson rebuild their home and their lives. The afternoon includes live entertainment and begins at 2:00pm.


Sports:

-2010 Alberta Cup Bantam Tournament sees the Central Thrashers take on Edmonton South at 8pm. The Thrashers have games all weekend long.

-2010 Allan Cup sees the Bentley Generals at the tournament in Fort St. John with the final going tomorrow afternoon.

-And the pre-season begins this weekend for the Red Deer Bantam AAA Servus Credit Union Braves getting the season started in Okotoks.

Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Help for Haitil at the Red Deer Lodge. Cocktails at 6:00pm with dinner at 7:00pm

-Back by popular demand A Case of Blues: A tribute to the Blues Brothers tonight and tomorrow at the Matchbox. Tickets are $25.

-The 35th Annual Consort Gun and Hobby Show Saturday and Sunday at the Consort Sportex. $5 for adults. There will also be a supper and social tomorrow night.


Sports:

-2010 Western Canada Sledge Hockey Tournament in Edmonton this weekend. The Red Deer Senior B Rage take on Battle River tonight, Calgary and Manitoba tomorrow. Good luck!

-Also this weekend the World Curling Tour Grey Power Players Championship takes place in Dawson Creek, BC. Red Deer’s Whitney More is throwing second for the Valerie Sweeting Rink.

-Kick Ass about a new team of super heroes. Rated 18A for a reason.

-Death at a Funeral with Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan.

Weekend Report

Local:
-BIG 105 presents the Taboo Naughty but Nice Show at Westerner Park. Tonight is Diva’s night meaning two for one admission.
-Seedy Sunday at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. Learn about seed saving and the importance of bees. Refreshments will be served and even a special set up for the kids.

Sports:
-Western Shield Women’s Hockey Championship in Victoria this weekend. The Red Deer Senior AA Bandits are taking part. Good luck to them.
-Well wishes go to Red Deer’s Adrienne White competing in the Duramed Futures Golf Tour in Daytona Beach Florida. Might earn a spot on the LPGA.

-Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey out for a night on the town.
