Weekend Report

Local

-BIG 105 and Thru The Windshield magazine present Drive In Movies at the Mall Friday. This is the parking lot party featuring a kids zone, refreshments and live entertainment from the Boom Chucka Boys. Gates open at 7pm with Men In Black showing at dusk. The Red Deer Food Bank will be on hand selling popcorn and refreshments.

-BIG 105 presents Football Day in Lacombe Saturday at MEGlobal Athletic Park. The UofC Dinos will take on the UofA Golden Bears with lots of activities throughout the day. Tickets are $8 in advance and available at Red Deer and Lacombe Co-op.

-North Red Deer 100th Anniversary Celebration is Saturday at the North Cottage High School and Koinonia Christian School on 60th Street. The event begins at 1:00pm and features entertainment all afternoon.

-The 2nd Annual Fahlia and Gladiolus Show will run Saturday and Sunday at Bower Place Shopping Centre. For information or tips on how to prepare your plants, call Wayne at (403) 347-7482.

-The Berry Architecture Wellness Ride cycles from Red Deer to Delburne Saturday in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Central Alberta Brain Injury Society. Both 50 and 100km routes are available.

Sports

- The Red Deer Riggers are 1-1 at Senior AAA Nationals after losing 4-3 Friday to host New Brunswick. The men take on ON2Mississauga Saturday hoping to advance to the gold medal game on Sunday.

-The Red Deer Rebels take to the ice Sunday as training camp sessions open. Over 70 players are expected to participate and all sessions are open to the public. The Black and White game is Wednesday at 7:00pm.

-Our Idiot Brother with Paul Rudd and Zooey Deschanel.

-Colombiana with Zoe Saldana and Michael Vartan.

-Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark with Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes.

Sunday evening, Lady Gaga will open the MTV Video Music Awards. Other performers include Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and Young The Giant. Cobra Starship will play the pre-show, performing their new song, ``You Make Me Feel.'' Selena Gomez will host the pre-show.

BIG 105 presents The Backyardigans: Quest for the Extra Ordinary Aliens on September 17th. All next week, The Morning Buzz will have pairs of tickets to give away including front row next Friday!

Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Fiestaval Saturday starting at 11:00am at the intersection of Gaetz and Ross downtown. Enjoy authentic Latin food, entertainment, dance classes and kid area in this family friendly atmosphere.

- Red Deer Gasoline Alley Harley Davidson is holding an all wheels poker run for ALS Saturday with registration starting at 9:30am. $10 to register and $10 per hand with a BBQ by donation.

-Parkland Mall will be hosting its 5th annual Funology event Saturday starting at 11:00am. Bring your family and see what local activities are available get involved in together.

-BIG 105 presents Tools for School, supporting the Central Alberta Women’s Outreach Society. As you shop for back-to-school, pick up extra items such as paper, pencils, backpacks and drop them off at locations around the city. Cash donations are also accepted. Help kids get back to class with supplies.

Sports:

-Good luck to the Rocky Red Dogs and Innisfail Indians as they battle for Parkland Baseball League supremacy. Rocky took game one by a score of 7-2. The next game is Friday in Innisfail and concludes Sunday in Rocky Mountain House if necessary.

-Spy Kids: All The Time In The World, a kids sci-fi comedy with Jessica Alba and Joel McHale.

-One Day, a romantic comedy with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess

-The Tree of Life, a dramatic piece with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

-Fright Night, a remake of the classic with Colin Farrell and Toni Collette.

-Conan the Barbarian, another remake of a classic featuring Jason Momoa and Rachel Nichols.
