Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents the Our Best To You Art and Craft Sale this weekend at Westerner Park. $5 gets you in and you can get a reentry pass for the entire weekend.

-The Red Deer Public Library is holding their annual Halloween Spooktacular, Saturday from 2-3pm in the children’s department. Bring your costume and hear stories, songs and crafts.

-Halloween is presented by the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra with special guests Saturday that the Red Deer College Arts Centre. Fairy tales, Hitchcock thrillers and tales of Witchcraft. The evening gets underway at 8pm.

-Halloween fun at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery on Sunday. Kids can check out the Curious Case of the Missing Toy starting at 1pm.

Sports:

-The Red Deer Rebels have a pair of games at home with the boys hosting Vancouver Friday and Saskatoon Saturday. These are the last home games until November 19th.

-High school football sees the a-side semi-final playoffs take place. Friday’s early game sees Camrose at Lacombe. The late game sees Hunting Hills hosting Stettler. The b-side semi final sees Rocky at Thurber.

Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Bull Skit, Friday and Saturday at the Scott Block downtown. Live comedy with improv, sketches and live music from Randi Boulton. Tix $18 at the door.

-BMO Boolathon in support of Kids Help Phone goes Sunday at Heritage Lanes. It’s going to be a ghoul-ishly good time. Come out and watch the costumed teams at 11:30a.

-Red Deer Model Train and Hobby Show runs Saturday and Sunday at the Harvest Centre at Westerner Park. Tickets are $5.00 and kids 5 and under are free.

Sports:

-The Red Deer Rebels have two games on the road this weekend. Friday they are in Kootenay and Saturday in Spokane. You can catch the games on our brother station, 106.7 The Drive.

-In AJHL action, the Olds Grizzlies host Drumheller witha 7:30pm puck drop.

-High school football sees Camrose at Stettler, Wetaskiwin at Notre Dame.

-Good luck to those competing in the Lindsay Thurber boys/girls tournament.

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Red Deer Cabaret, a ‘Halloween Spooktacular’ Friday and Saturday at the Scott Block downtown. Live entertainment with a magician, contortionist and music. Tickets are $22 at Sunworks, $25 at the door

-Cheap movie morning tomorrow at Galaxy Cinemas. Starting at 8:30 you can enjoy a free movie and discounted concessions with proceeds going to Starlight Children’s Foundation, wishes to seriously ill children and hospital entertainment.

Sports

- The Red Deer Rebels at home this weekend. The boys entertain Saskatoon Friday and Prince Albert Saturday. Saturday night, bring skates and helmets for the post game skate and a donation for the Red Deer Food Bank.

-Central Alberta High School Football sees Rocky at Hunting Hills, Notre Dame at Lacombe, Thurber at Camrose and Stettler visits Wetaskiwin.

-Jackass 3D which shouldn’t be seen by anyone but will make a bunch of money.

Local

-BIG 105 presents the Red Deer Pet Expo this weekend at Westerner Park. Everything to spoil your pets. But pets are not welcome. Tickets at the door.

-BIG 105 presents the Red Deer Ski and Snowboard Show also at Westerner Park. Tickets at the door.

-Monday, the Salvation Army is offering a free, traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Music, fellowship and the delicious meal. Dinner is at 4pm at the Sally Ann on 54th Street.

Sports

-Red Deer Rebels are in Brandon tonight taking on the Wheat Kings. Saturday the boys are in Moose Jaw for the final game of the road trip.

-High school football sees Wetaskiwin take on Lindsay Thurber at Great Chief Park with kickoff at 7pm.

-Saturday’s peewee football sees Olds in Red Deer taking on the Hornets. The Steelers are in Lacombe. Wetaskiwin is in Sylvan Lake and Strathmore at Innisfail.

Local

- Second last Farmers Market of the year Saturday in both Red Deer and Rimbey.

- Sunnybrook United Church is hosting a cookie walk Saturday. $5.00 fills a box. The walk gets underway at 9:30am.

-BIG 105 presents the CIBC Run for the Cure Sunday at Lindsay Thurber High School. Registration is 9am with funds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

-BIG 105 presents the With This Ring Bridal Gala Sunday at Westerner Park. Doors open at 10am with fashion shows at 11:30 & 2:00pm. Tickets are $10 at the door

Sports

-Red Deer Rebels have a home and home with the Tigers. Tonight in Medicine Hat and tomorrow at the Centrium. Rebels looking to make it four in a row to start the season.

-Red Deer Optimist Rebels drop the puck on their season tonight against the UFA Bisons. That game gets underway at the Red Deer Arena at 8pm.

-High School football today sees Sylvan Lake taking on Hunting Hills at Great Chief Park at 4pm. Lindsay Thurber is at Rocky Mountain House and Notre Dame hosts Stetler.
