Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Passionate Forward, supporting CAWES, tomorrow at the Harvard Park Centre in Springbrook. Appetizers, dinner and special guest Theoren Fleury.

-BIG 105 also presents the Meyers Norris Penny MS Walk Sunday at Bower Ponds. Money raised goes to research and programs for people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

-Edgar Farms Asparagus Festival Saturday and Sunday. Tastings by executive chefs, hay rides, petting zoo and more. Cost is $20 per family.


Sports:

-A couple of games in Parkland Baseball action tonight as Eckville is in Red Deer while Bieseker is in Innisfail. Those games will play weather permitting.


Film:

-Sex And The City 2, but you already knew that, didn’t you?

-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with Jake Gyllenhaal.


Saturday Night Live will rerun the episode with Ryan Phillippe with Ke$ha.

Local

-The Innisfail Historical Society presents their 6th Annual Vintage Auto Show and Pancake Breakfast Saturday at the Historical Village. Breakfast at 9:00am. Program at 10:00am.

-The Red Deer Market starts tomorrow as well. It's the 40th year of operation. Check it out at the Arena.


Sports

-The 19th annual Tradition Lives Lacrosse Tournament goes tomorrow through Monday in Red Deer this weekend. 54 teams from across Alberta are taking part.

-Good luck to the Red Deer Minor Baseball teams taking part in tournaments in St. Albert this weekend.

-Red Deer Rebels forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is up for the CHL Rookie of the Year award to be announced tomorrow in Brandon.


Film:

-For the kids, Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter.

-For the bigger kids, MacGruber.


Saturday Night Live will repeat the Tina Fey episode with musical guest Justin Beiber.

Local:

-BIG 105 presents the Red Deer Cabaret tonight and tomorrow at the Scott Block Theatre Downtown. Cabaret fun with tickets $25 at the door. 7:00pm curtain call.

-You Are What You Eat takes place Sunday at the Red Deer Museum where you can learn healthy alternatives to sugary snacks. Discussion starts at 2:00pm.

-Green Deer campaign continues this weekend and many community associations are cleaning up the city. Many are also offering tree planting and BBQ’s.


Sports:

-Tonight the Red Deer Road Train Revenge take on the Edmonton Warriors in lacrosse action at the Kinex. Tomorrow they face Westlock.

-Tomorrow the Red Deer Midget A Chiefs take on the Calgary Hornets at 11:30 then Okotoks at 3:30, both at the Collicut

- Rumble in Red Deer goes tomorrow at the Capri Centre. Amateur and White Collar Boxing at its best. “Fight For A Cure” with a portion of proceeds assisting youth and young adults living with cancer. www.rumbleinreddeer.com

-The African Children’s Choir is hosting a free concert on Sunday at the Kentwood Alliance Church. An offering will be taken with proceeds going to support children programs in Africa. www.africanchildrenschoir.com

-Sunday is also Mother’s Day. So happy day to all you mom’s and grandmom’s and mom’s-to-be.


Sports:

-Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League action sees the Red Deer Rampage take on Saskatoon at 8:30pm at the Kinex. The Innisfail Yeti are in Okotoks

-The Red Deer Midget Triple A Carstar Braves have a double header against the Edmonton Cards at Great Chief Park Saturday at noon.

-As well tomorrow, the Red Deer Titans take on the Calgary Hornets at Titans Rugby Park with the ladies starting at 1:00pm.

-One new movie in Red Deer theatres and it’s the one many people have been waiting for. Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr.
