Weekend Report

Local:

- BIG 105 and Against the Wall Theatre present “Dead Lovers Day”, a rock musical about love, hate, betrayal and insanity. The show runs until April 9th at the Scott Block Theatre. Tickets are $20 at the door.

-RDC Alumni’s Annual Wine Tasting Festival is Friday at the College. Enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer and local gourmet hors d’oeuvres and a chance to win prizes. Tickets are $50/person and available by calling 403-342-3245.

-Ponoka salutes the 75th Anniversary of the Ponoka Stampede Trade Fair takes place Friday and Saturday at the Ponoka Arena Complex. A petting zoo, mechanical bull rides and live entertainment. Admission is $10/family. Find details by calling 403-783-3888.

Sports:

-The Red Deer Rebels entertain Medicine Hat at the Centrium as we kick off round two of the WHL playoffs. The first 4000 fans Friday receive pom poms while the first 2500 Saturday receive fan banners. All the games live at 106.7 The Drive.

-Congrats to The Bentley Generals for winning the McKenzie Cup. They now represent the Pacific on the road to the Allan Cup. The Generals take on the Dundas Real McCoys Tuesday and the Kenora Thistles Wednesday.

Film:

-Soul Surfer, based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton. It stars Dennis Quaid and Carrie Underwood.

-Arthur, a remake of the Dudley Moore comedy with Russell Brand and Jennifer Garner.

-Hanna, a thriller with Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana.

-Your Highness, a medieval comedy with James Franco and Natalie Portman.

Saturday Night Live features Dame Helen Mirren with musical guest Foo Fighters.
