Weekend Report

Local:

-The Red Deer and District SPCA is holding their annual fundraiser, Red Deer’s Largest Garage Sale, Friday through Sunday at 5239 53rd Ave, north of Superstore. Enter the raffles and pick up some gently used items. Details at www.reddeerspca.com.

-BIG 105 is raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. We’re holding bottle drive at Canadian Tire and Sobey’s North starting at 11am. Your donation could win Katy Perry tickets or an autographed stick from goaltender Chris Mason of the Atlanta Thrashers who will be signing autographs.

- “Get into the ‘SPEAR IT’ of spring!!” Asparagus Festival at Edgar Farms west of Innisfail. Enjoy hay rides, tastings prepared by executive chefs, petting zoo, bale fort, and other locally made/locally baked booths. The Festival runs 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

-Sunday, BIG 105 presents the Enerflex MS Walk at Bower Ponds. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:45am with the walk starting at 9am. For more info and to register visit www.mswalks.ca.

Sports:

-Friday, Parkland Baseball League action sees the Red Deer Razorbacks hosting the Innisfail Indians at Great Chief Park with first pitch at 6:45pm. Rocky Mountain House visits Lacombe. Sunday, Lacome is in Beiseker.

-High School soccer has Alix visiting Notre Dame while Sylvan Lake visits Central Alberta Christian.

Film:

-Kung Fu Panda 2, featuring the voice talents of Jack Black and Angelina Jolie.

-The Hangover 2, a comedic sequel featuring Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms.
