Local

-The Penhold Indoor Market runs every Saturday morning at the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

-To launch Waste Reduction Week, The City of Red Deer is declaring a fall edition of Kick it to the Curb Saturday and Sunday. Place items at your curb with a sign stating they are free. Please be respectful of other’s property.

-The Red Deer Public Library is giving you an opportunity to stock up on new books, older classics, DVDs and more while supporting RDPL. Saturday beginning at 10am stop by the downtown branch for the fall book sale. And a reminder: donations of gently used books are always welcome.

-The Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a Harvest Festival Sunday beginning at 1pm. There will be hands on activities, games, pumpkin pie and harvest treats. Admission is free.

Sports

-The Red Deer Rebels look to make it two in a row as they host the Regina Pats at the Centrium Saturday. Puck drops at 7:30pm. Saturday is also the Red Deer Advocate post game skate.

-Heritage Junior B action sees the Stettler Lightning visiting Didsbury while Ponoka is in Okotoks Friday. Saturday has Cochrane at Stettler, Three Hills at Red Deer and Blackfalds at Coaldale.

-The RDC Kings and Queens basketball teams are hosting their Fall Royalty tournament . The soccer teams take on Medicine Hat on Saturday and Lethbridge on Sunday.

-High School Football shows Rocky taking on Thurber at Great Chief Park Friday while Lacombe visits Camrose.

Film

-Footloose, a remake of the 1984 classic starring Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough.

-The Big Year, a comedy with Steve Martin and Jack Black.

-The Thing, a sci-fi horror remake of the 1982 original with Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Eric Christian Olsen.

Saturday Night Live features Anna Faris with musical guest Drake.
