Weekend Report

Local

-Friday, Bo’s Bar and Grill is holding a fundraiser for Brenda Shultz, who suffered a spinal cord injury last month. Tickets are $10 with the event starting at 6:30pm. The evening will feature a 50/50 draw and a silent auction including a pair of tickets to the Foo Figheters donated by BIG 105.

-BIG 105 presents the World of Women Boutique Show Saturday and Sunday at Westerner Park. Enjoy two days of women’s fashion shows, live entertainment, food from the café and a chance to win a $250 voucher.

-The Red Deer Public Library is holding FOUR children’s events on Saturday at the Downtown Branch. 11am is the family drop-in Halloween story time. 1pm is the Think To Ink youth writer’s club. 2pm has the Children’s Chess Club for ages 8 and up. 3pm has the Model Club celebrating space history by building model shuttles.

Sports

-The Red Deer Rebels continue their winning streak Friday against the Moose Jaw Warriors. Saturday the boys entertain the Portland Winterhawks. The puck drops at 7:30pm for both games. Saturday is Subway Puzzle Night where the first 500 kids receive a Rebels puzzle.

-Heritage Junior B hockey Friday sees Three Hills at Stettler. Saturday Medicine Hat is in Red Deer taking on the Vipers, Okotoks is in Stettler and Didsbury is at Ponoka. Sunday Okotoks is in Blackfalds.

-Chinook Hockey League has the Bentley Generals host Fort Saskatchewan Friday at 8:30 in Lacombe. Saturday the Generals are in Stony Plain, Sylvan Lake hosts Carstairs and Fort Saskatchewan is in Innisfail.

-High School football has Notre Dame taking on Hunting Hills, Sylvan Lake is in Camrose and Lindsay Thurber is in Wetaskiwin. On Saturday, Lindsay Thurber hosts Drumheller, Lacombe hosts Olds, Hunting Hills takes on Sylvan Lake and Rocky is in Springbank.

Film

-The Three Musketeers, the classic tale retold with Juno Temple and Milla Jovovich.

-Johnny English Reborn, a comedic thriller with Rowan Atkinson and Gillian Anderson.

-Paranormal Activity 3, with three times the Paranormal Activity.

And qualifying has concluded for Sun n Sandals 4: The BIG Jet to Jamaica. Congratulations to everyone who has their name in the draw. Paul and Lisa from The Morning Buzz will announce the grand prize winner Monday Morning. The trip includes $350 to spend at the Travelman Luggage and Swimwear Warehouse, airport transportation from Arrow Limousine and Sedan Service, flights and a one week stay at the Sandals Grande Riviera Beach and Villa Golf Resort.
