Weekend Report

Local:

-BIG 105 presents Our Best To You Art and Craft Show at Westerner Park. The weekend features the handmade work of Canada's finest artists, artisans and designers. Tickets are $5 at the door.

-BIG 105 presents Bull Skit Friday and Saturday at the Scott Block Theatre Downtown. Two nights of improv and original sketch comedy. Tickets are $23 or $18 for students and seniors and available at Sunworks or at the door.

-Red Deer Public Library has Halloween children’s programs Saturday and Sunday. Saturday at 3:00pm is “You Don’t Scare Me” for ages 8 and up. It will host a creepy campfire for scary movies, eerie activities and supernatural snacks. Sunday at 2:00pm they will show The Wizard of Oz in the Snell Auditorium.

-Heritage Lanes hosts the 2011 Boo-la-thon for Kids Help Phone Sunday at noon. Get your team together and bowl with money raised for the Kids Help Phone.

Sports:

-Two games in two nights for the Red Deer Rebels. Friday the boys host the Everett Silvertips at 7:30. Live entertainment from “Krome” and kids who wear their minor sports jersey to the game get a ticket for just $5. Saturday the Rebels are in Lethbridge taking on the Hurricanes. Game time is 7:00pm.

-Heritage Junior B hockey sees Blackfalds in Three Hills and Banff at Stettler Friday. Ponoka takes on Mountainview and Banff at Red Deer Saturday with High River in Blackfalds and Okotoks at Ponoka Sunday.

-Chinook Hockey League action has Stony Plain at Sylvan Lake Friday and Innisfail in Bentley Saturday.

-High School football Friday has Lacombe at Notre Dame, Wetaskiwin at Stettler and Camrose at Lindsay Thurber.

Film:

-Puss in Boots, from the creators of Shrek with the voice talents of Antonio Banderas and Selma Hayek.

-In Time, where your life is the currency, featuring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.

-The Rum Diary, featuring rum, Puerto Rico, Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart.

Saturday Night Live replays the Ben Stiller episode with musical guest Foster The People.

And the Lotto Max jackpot is an estimated $30million. That’s a lot of candy corn.
